Waiex W0172

Co-builders, Dick Harriman & Michael Tabler, two retired Air Force Pilots,
had their First Flight Sat Oct 20, 2012, at 10AM from Plattsmouth Airport,
Nebraska in Waiex N882YW SN 172 with the AeroVee 80HP engine, Tricycle
gear, and dual stick configuration.
Dick had been messing with model airplanes since he was a kid in southern
Iowa and this was Dick's 5th build, but the 1st for Mike. The build and
engine assembly was completed in just 10 months and 1350 total man hours.
Both felt their time spent at the Sonex workshop was valuable, especially
meeting the staff and being better able to connect with them when tech
support was necessary.
In addition to working together on their Waiex, Dick & Mike fly a Rans S16
Shekari plane (Dick's 4th build), and previously flew Reconnaissance out of
Offutt AFB Nebraska. When they are in the air together, they have over 100
years of flying experience.
