7th Annual Great Southern Sonex Gathering Called the Best Yet by Organizers
11-13-09

The 7th Annual Great Southern Sonex Gathering, organized by Sonex builders Mike Singleton and Robert Barber, was held on Saturday, November 7th at Coulter Field in Bryan Texas. The organizers deemed the event a great success again this year. Mike Singleton submitted the following report:

"Good local weather and a good airport atmosphere helped make this year the best so far. Although several Sonex aircraft couldn’t make it due to weather or other factors, we had six aircraft representing the three recommended engine options. Approximately 60 people attended the program, including 6 Sonex pilots and 21 Sonex, Waiex and Xenos builders. Rides were given to at least 35 people, most of whom experienced their first Sonex flight. After-flight smiles were abundant all day! Many door prizes were awarded, including a good selection of nice gifts supplied by Sonex Aircraft, LLC. Darall McMillen, as one of the 6 pilots with a flying Sonex at the gathering, won the leather flight jacket. The last official event on the schedule was the panel discussion at which many topics were covered. Robert and I have already begun to think and plan for next year’s Sonex Gathering and expect to improve the format even more and to have more aircraft, including examples of the Waiex and Xenos."

As always, Sonex Aircraft, LLC would like to extend a huge "Thank You" to Mike, Robert, and all other builder event organizers for keeping the grass-roots Sonex movement alive and well! If you are planning a Sonex builder event, please be sure to email sales@sonexaircraft.com to have it included on our Sonex Builders' Events Calendar!
