Jarvis Wins at Narromine, Again!
04-18-06

Australian Sonex builder Lynn Jarvis won "Best Overall Aircraft" at Natfly 2006, the national meeting of Recreational Aviation Australia at Narromine NSW, Australia. This marks the third year in-a-row that Jarvis has taken home these honors for his Sonex (S/N 0143) from the Narromine show, at which hundreds of aircraft are displayed and judged.

"Shocked and surprised can't describe my reaction," remarked Jarvis. "I believe a lot has to do with the design itself, the only Sonex on the field, and this time with the new gleaming white glass covered Sensenich prop which sets off the paint job perfectly... I met with quite a number of [Sonex] builders, some I had previously known only from emails. Like the previous meetings, there were so many interested people I talked myself hoarse."

Sonex Aircraft, LLC extends its congratulations to Jarvis for this achievement. His fine workmanship has won the highest praises of three separate judging panels at Australia's premiere recreational aviation event, and has been an inspiration to other Sonex builders, worldwide.

Sonex Wraps-up Successful Sun 'n Fun 2006
04-12-06

Sonex staff have returned to Oshkosh after another successful Sun 'n Fun Fly-In in Lakeland, FL. Although overall show attendance numbers seemed to be down, Sonex had steady booth traffic during the show, and many current builders stopped-by as well. The Sonex Builder Party was well attended and fun was had by all. The Sonex "Escape Pod" cockpit mockup was a success in reducing cockpit try-on wear-and-tear on flying Sonex prototypes, and it earned some press attention from our April Fool's Day press release.

A huge "Thank You" to the Sonex pilots who flew in and especially to Tony Spicer, who had his aircraft on display at the Sonex booth all week long. Tony Spicer and the Sonex Sport Trainer prototype flew most every morning doing both high (180+ mph) and low (50 mph) speed passes.

Sonex employee Kerry Fores made it home safely in his Sonex SN# 9 and preliminarily reported an average fuel burn with the Jabiru 3300 and AeroCarb of 5.16 GPH from start-up to shut-down, cruising at 2950 RPM. More details to follow...

Sonex Aircraft Adds Two New Employees!
04-03-06

Sonex Aircraft, LLC is pleased to announce the addition of two new full-time employees at our Oshkosh, WI facility.

Aviation attracts some of the world’s best and brightest people, and Sonex Aircraft, LLC is no exception. Jason Algra, an aviation enthusiast who has been keeping an eye on Sonex for several years, has made the move all the way from Huntington Beach, CA to become Sonex Aircraft, LLC’s new Warehouse Lead Associate. Formerly a Site Manager for Triple Crown Sports, Algra is currently restoring a 1940 Porterfield and has been an occasional volunteer at the Planes of Fame museum in Chino, CA. Jason will be bringing his considerable logistics experience to bear, helping Sonex Aircraft continue to stock and ship Sonex and AeroConversions products.

As Sonex Aircraft, LLC continues to grow, drawing and part control becomes a larger and more cumbersome task. David Hanson, a graduate of Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI has joined the Sonex staff to work in a drafting and part control capacity. This move will allow Sonex Research and Development and management staff to move forward more rapidly with development of the Sonex and AeroConversions product lines. Hanson, a professional in the use of the newest CAD technologies, has previously interned for the Metso Corporation and has worked for Pierce Manufacturing.

Jason and David bring even more flexibility and expertise to an already extremely talented Sonex staff. Their addition allows us to serve a rapidly growing number of aviation enthusiasts. We expect great things out of both of these new hires. Sonex and AeroConversions will continue to actively invest in Research and Development for both introducing new products to the aviation market along with continually improving and refining existing product lines. We continue to operate the entire company as efficiently and effectively as possible and deliver the best performance per dollar aircraft and engine components available in the market today.
