First flight complete! The weather smiled on us, and I had a great crew that made themselves available on short notice, and we got Loki off the ground for the first time. Thanks to all, and especially chase pilot extraordinaire Bob Mills - glad to have you out there on the wing Nasty!

Ryan Steffey completed his JSX-2 in 555 hours of labor and a 2 month 2 week time frame. His first aircraft build and first jet. Ryan drove his Jet in trailer from PA to Park City, Ut for the testing. We spent 2 days inspecting and addressing minor issues before the first fuel testing and subsequent engine testing occurred. The engine started and operated perfectly. After several successful High Speed taxi tests, Accel-Stop distance measurements up to 90 mph and system testing the plane said, "Lets go fly." On 15 March, I had the privilege and honor to fly Ryan's new jet for a short 30 minute flight. Flight characteristics, initial handling and performance were fantastic. Over the next several days we expanded the flight envelope to 220mph, 3.5 G's, initial aerobatics and basic performance and glide studies. 64 stalls completed in a variety of configurations, 18 flights and 48 test cards completed, I felt comfortable and confident in the plane and Ryan for his first flight. On 21 March Ryan commanded his own jet for 30 minutes of flying and practice approaches to conclude a successful flight for himself. The plane was packed up and driven back to PA for additional flights by Ryan and further testing. A huge success for everyone involved! Thank you for the great opportunity! All the best. Owens Sonex N577CG first flight- 10/17/2018, Phase 1 testing completed 3/26/2019. The registration number is based on my first training airplane in 1988, a Cessna 150, N66577 and my daughter Cami and son Glason. The idea to build an airplane started after my first trip to AirVenture with my son and his first aircraft ride that we shared in a Bell 47. After the Bell 47 flight my son saying: "Dad, I want to go flying with you" has turned into an expensive but very rewarding suggestion. I attended AirVenture for many years with my dad as young person. Unfortunately my dad passed away 3/27/2011 and was not able to see it fly. He and I are both huge fans of the Sig RC model airplane Thunderbird color scheme based on the Thunderbirds years with the T-38. Eventually the cowl and wheel pants will be painted to complete the scheme.

My Waiex flew for .6 hrs yesterday at Mt Washington Regional KHIE. It flew wonderfully, no surprises. The Viking engine ran perfectly and the heat supplied by engine coolant was quite welcome as the temp was in the 30s at altitude. So N59YK, my WaiKing, is now officially an airplane! It was a long time in building due to many issues but well worth the trip. Thanks especially go to my ultra patient and helpful wife Cathy, Mike Smith for encouragement /help airframewise and Casey Lyon and Don Bowen with engine help/info. Of course thanks also goes to many unnamed others along the way. Keep on building it's worth it.

Hereby I like to report Waiex-B WXB0017 is complete and flew on 23 SEP 2018 for the first time in the skies over Wichita Falls, TX. The Waiex-B is Aerovee Turbo powered and obivously in most fun Tailwheel configuration. I didnt put the fairings on or give it a pretty paintjob yet. It flies pretty nice with a nice crisp response to the aerobatic ailerons. Despite that the day of the first flight started with marginal weather, it conluded with a successful first hour of flight time in my own built airplane powered by own built engine - This is amazing. Hard to beat that feeling - taking flight in N69YX. Thank you Sonex Team, Juergen Voll

I flew the Onex on September 10, 2018 and Tom James flew it the second time for a longer period of time. The aircraft flew as expected, and we have been flying our Sonex and enjoying it for several years.
