Sonex Aircraft to Hold 50th Builder Workshop!

Sonex Aircraft, LLC will achieve a significant milestone in 2012, holding its 50th Sonex Builder Workshop on the weekend of January 28-29! This milestone comes in the kit aircraft and engine company’s 14th year of business, holding 3 to 4 workshop events per year since 1998.

SubSonex Jet Makes First Flight

Sonex Aircraft, LLC is excited to announce that the SubSonex jet aircraft prototype, JSX-1, made its maiden flight today, August 10, 2011 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI. The SubSonex was piloted by air show performer and owner of Desert Aerospace LLC, Bob Carlton. The flight lasted approximately 14 minutes and focused on exploring the low-end of the aircraft's speed envelope, including stalls, and a low approach in the landing configuration.

Sonex Aircraft, LLC Accepting Deposits for Onex Single-Place, Folding-Wing, Aerobatic Sport Aircraft

Sonex Aircraft, LLC is pleased to announce that refundable deposits are now being accepted to reserve kit production slots for the Onex single-place, folding-wing, aerobatic sport aircraft. Onex Airframe Kit deliveries are expected to begin by mid-year, 2011, with Tail Kit deliveries beginning much sooner. The Onex has been a highly anticipated Sport Pilot-eligible airplane kit, as evidenced by Onex mailing list membership growing to over 1,300 subscribers. Many prospective Onex builders have submitted requests to make a deposit and reserve their place in-line for Onex kits, and the opportunity to make those reservations has now arrived.

Onex Single-Place, Folding-Wing, Aerobatic Sport Aircraft Makes First Flight

Sonex Aircraft, LLC is proud to announce that the number one prototype of the new Onex single-place, folding-wing kit aircraft made its first flight yesterday, January 27, 2011 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI. Piloted by Sonex General Manager, CEO, and Onex designer Jeremy Monnett, the AeroVee-powered N111NX made an extensive flight orbiting the field. Monnett also made a low approach before landing, signifying his satisfaction with the initial handling and performance of the aircraft.

The Sonex Aircraft, LLC E-Flight Initiative proof-of-concept electric-powered Waiex aircraft achieved its first flight today, December 3, 2010 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI. Piloted by Sonex Founder and E-Flight team leader John Monnett, N270DC made a short hop on runway 27, intended to be a conservative non-pattern flight to break ground-effect and analyze in-flight system performance as the next step in testing. This short flight punctuates four years of development by the E-Flight design team in engineering, building and testing one of the most advanced electric flight packages ever conceived.

Onex Single-Place Aircraft Prototype to Debut at AirVenture 2010

Sonex Aircraft, LLC is pleased to announce that the prototype Onex single-place aircraft will be making its debut at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2010. A formal roll out of the aircraft will take place during the Sonex Open House and Homecoming Fly-In on July 25th at Sonex Aircraft LLC’s Wittman Airport factory. The Aircraft will also be displayed in the Sonex booth at AirVenture: North Aircraft Display, Booth# 622. With Onex concept drawings first unveiled in the Sonex Aircraft, LLC Hornets’ Nest Research & Development exhibit at AirVenture 2009, this year’s show will be the first opportunity for members of the press and public to see the prototype aircraft in-person. Although not yet flying, the Onex prototype is in advanced stages of construction. The public will be able to try-on the Onex cockpit, and the aircraft’s unique wing fold mechanism will be demonstrated.
