E-Flight is not a new concept to John Monnett and Sonex Aircraft, LLC. John's design philosophy has always been focused on making aviation affordable for people with average income and limited time, without sacrificing performance and value. This design mandate requires the use of low-cost powerplants (i.e. less horsepower and lower fuel burn), with simple and reliable systems (demanding less down-time for maintenance) coupled with light, clean and efficient airframes. Monnett designs have been green since well-before "going green" was in vogue.

The E-Flight Initiative Efficiency Enhancement component defines the long-standing research and development goals for the Sonex Aircraft and AeroConversions product lines. Sonex is committed to continuous product refinement and the development of new products in-keeping with these goals. In the coming years, you will see the development of enhancements to the existing AeroVee and other existing and future AeroConversions products to increase fuel efficiency and performance for the sport pilot. These enhancements will be built upon an already strong foundation, as an AeroCarb equipped AeroVee powered Sonex aircraft already boasts a fuel economy of over 42 miles per gallon when cruising at 150 mph TAS.
