Stratomaster XTreme

The XTreme EFIS is an affordable mini EFIS. It can be configured as a PFD (with AHRS sensors added), and/or an engine monitor (with RDAC added). It includes a GPS receiver that is used to provide ground speed and range information, as well as a backup/control for the AHRS. If you do not select the SP-7 attitude sensor, you can still have a GPS-derived bank angle display!

You can use it as...

  • Primary EFIS
  • Backup EFIS
  • Engine Monitor
  • EFIS/Engine Monitor
  • Basic GPS Navigation

Some might use it for just 1 function, or you could use all functions!

The XTreme features Basic GPS navigation (waypoints, routes, CDI [no moving map]), and Internal Autopilot (just add servos and connection module).

The XTreme EFIS is a mini-EFIS unit based on a 4.3" sunlight readable, wide viewing angle, high resolution LCD display. It integrates an SD card reader (for software updates and for flight data recorder), 5 function buttons and a rotary control.

It can be connected to standard MGL Avionics AHRS sensors and RDAC (engine monitor) boxes. It also integrates a CAN Aerospace compatible communications interface that will be used with future versions of MGL Avionics sensors. Standard RS-232 ports are also available.

The XTreme is designed to fit a standard 3 1/8" round instrument hole. The body is located off-center allowing the unit to replace instruments on the right side of a standard 6-pack configuration or any other location that currently occupies two instruments.

Due to the light weight and very low mounting depth no complicated mounting brackets or trays are needed. Power use is low and operation from much less than 12V to around 28V is fully supported.

SP-6 Magnetometer (Compass sensor)

$260.00

You must be logged-in as a Sonex Aircraft plans owner to view this product category.

Please use our Instruments Order Form for Mail or Fax orders.

The SP-6 contains a three-axis magnetic field sensor and a 2-axis accelerometer. Featuring a high resolution 16 bit measurement system, a powerful ATMega processor is used to output tilt-compensated heading information. If an SP-7 AHRS is used on the same Airtalk communications link, tilt compensation is augmented using gyro data.

SP-7 AHRS Attitude (horizon) sensor

$700.00

You must be logged-in as a Sonex Aircraft plans owner to view this product category.

Please use our Instruments Order Form for Mail or Fax orders.

The SP-7 contains 3 MEMS gyros and 3 MEMS vibrating body accelerometers. Using a 16 bit data acquisition subsystem, a powerful ARM7 32 bit processor is used to provide stabilized attitude information. SP-7 can handle roll rates of approximately 250 degrees per second. Together with an SP-6 magnetometer on the same Airtalk communications link, the gyro heading can be automatically slaved to the magnetic heading.

STX 165R Sandia Remote Mode C Encoding Transponder for MGL iEFIS and XTreme

$1769.00

You must be logged-in as a Sonex Aircraft plans owner to view this product category.

Please use our Instruments Order Form for Mail or Fax orders.

The STX 165R elevates transponder capability to a new level while reducing both weight and size. The solid state transmitter design provides 200 Watts nominal output with no warm up time. And because it’s all solid state, power requirements are at an absolute minimum.

The STX 165R will accept either Gillham Gray Code or RS-232 altitude input for Mode C operation. The STX 165R can be mounted with or without the mounting tray either vertically or horizontally. The STX 165R is especially suited for installations where size, weight and power consumption are critical. All functions of the STX 165R can be remotely controlled by the MGL Stratomaster XTreme and iEFIS Explorer via the RS-232 port.

Package includes MGL/Sandia wire harness, RG 400 coaxial antenna cable, and the Delta Pop brand airfoiled transponder antenna.

Trig TT22 Remote Mode S Encoding Tranponder for MGL iEFIS and XTreme (1090ES ADS-B Out Capable)

$2549.00

You must be logged-in as a Sonex Aircraft plans owner to view this product category.

Please use our Instruments Order Form for Mail or Fax orders.

Mode A and C transponders are now being replaced by Mode S technology which is optimized for tomorrow’s airspace requirements. Despite its modest size the TT22 is a heavyweight performer, at 250 watts nominal power output this class 1 transponder meets the latest FAA TSO C166b standards for ADS-B Out. The TT22 is suitable for use in higher performance aircraft flying above 15,000 feet and / or above 175 knots.

Package includes Trig TT21/22 Transponder CAN Interface harness, RG 400 coaxial antenna cable, and the Delta Pop brand airfoiled transponder antenna.

MGL Autopilot Servos (2) and Harness

The MGL Avionics iEFIS (and iEFIS Lite) contains a built-in autopilot. All you do is install our servos in the aircraft and the control and AP engage/disengage is handled directly by the iEFIS using the keypad, or via a remote switch. No other control modules are required.

The Servos connect to the iBox via the CAN Bus network like all other system devices.

The EFIS handles all autopilot controls so that once you have engaged it, it will couple with any navigation source you select from that point on seamlessly. There is no need to change modes.
