Enigma Features
  • 9 fully user-programmable screens using PC based editing software. Hundreds of highly configurable instruments and items in various forms from traditional analog dials to bargraphs, digital readouts, horizons, HSIs, moving maps, etc.
  • Voice prompts in addition to visual and external alarms. Voice prompts can be recorded by user on PC to support different languages.
  • GPS moving map, map viewing, terrain warning.
  • Engine monitoring using up to two RDAC units (dual engines or many channels).
  • Additional features: Checklists, any conceivable image.
  • Flight and Engine Recording facility for primary flight data, GPS positions, engine monitor.
  • Downloadable flight log using SD/MMC card.
  • Open design with published data formats for map and terrain data.
Basic System Functions
  • Altimeter -700 to 40,000 ft, 1ft dynamic resolution in flight at sea-level.
  • Airspeed 16 mph to 250 mph, 1mph resolution. Other ranges for special applications available.
  • Vertical speed +/-2000 ft/min analog range, +/-10.000 ft/min digital range. Fast response suitable for gliders.
  • Total energy compensated vertical speed indicator (in addition to normal indicator) without requirement for additional pressure compensation ports.
  • VSI/TE VSI history moving data display for thermalling and soaring.
  • Altitude encoder output (parallel gillman code) for mode-C transponders.
  • NMEA autopilot output (4800 baud, RS232, messages RMB, RMC, GGA).
  • Airtalk link support for optional SP-3, SP-4, SP-5 AHRS systems and SP-1, SP-2 Compass modules. Airtalk link also used to share data in multipanel mode systems.
  • Support for Stratomaster Ultra Horizon XL as secondary instrument (Ultra uses data from Enigma).
  • Engine monitoring support by means of one or two RDAC units. RDAC units can be used for either two engines or combined for engines that require a large amount of monitoring channels.
  • With two RDAC units maximum monitoring capability is: 24 channels of EGT/CHT thermocouples, six channels for NTC temperature probes (coolant, oil temperature, Rotax 912 CHT), 2 channels oil pressure, 2 fuel flows, 4 fuel tank levels, 2 RPM monitors. Further support for fuel pressure and carburetor temperature monitoring.
  • Rotorcraft support, separate rotor RPM input not reliant on RDAC units.
  • Support for optonal Airtalk I/O extender for monitoring of flap, gear and trim and similar items, both switched (on/off) as well as analog inputs (value). Outputs to switch various alarm type indicators.
  • Support for optional Airtalk battery current monitor to measure charge/discharge currents.
  • GPS based navigation engine with large capacity waypoint/airport database (up to 50,000 waypoints). Active waypoint management during flight, and the closest waypoints are always on hand without need to search for them.
  • Support for different airport types, intersections, altitude change waypoints (vertical navigation), navaids, etc.
  • Moving map support using actual raster maps as backdrop. Ability to use any digital map image including scanned images. Full support for user-created maps using Windows PC-based Mapmaker software package. Degree tile based raster map file format for seamless map coverage.
  • Moving map support for vector based database format, in combination with raster image backdrop maps or terrain elevation data.
  • Terrain awareness monitoring.
  • Airspace monitoring and alerts.
  • 3D terrain map views.
  • Traffic monitoring (available on a regional basis depending on various systems and integration schedules).

This program is your most important Enigma tool. Presenting a full simulation of a real Enigma instrument in great detail, it is also used to create custom screen layouts. Want to modify a screen, for example to add another fuel tank gauge or change colors or layouts to your liking? This is the program you need.

The simulator is also used to try out newly created maps - simply activate the built-in GPS simulator and position in the new map region. You can "fly" just as you would with a real Enigma.

Nine Screens:

The Enigma features 9 fully user-programmable screens. You can choose from standard screens (the Enigma ships with 9 pre-designed screens) or you can use Enigma's PC-based editing software to design unique screens. Hundreds of highly configurable instruments and display items in various forms are available to choose from. From traditional analog gauge displays to bargraphs, digital readouts, horizons, HSIs, moving maps, etc. The choice is yours! And if you don’t want to get too involved, just keep the standard screens, or contact MGL Avionics to design a special screen for you, free of charge. Note: not all screens are shown below. Stratomaster Fuel Flow Sender

The Stratomaster Fuel Flow Sender enables your Stratomaster instrument to display additional fuel calculation data. The unit has the following features:

  • Dual Range fuel flow sender. Fuel flow from 3 liters/hour to as much as 500 liters/hour is catered for.
  • Compatible with 8mm and 12mm hoses and similar  imperial sized hoses.
  • Compatible with a wide range of fuels including those with methanol and alcohol content.
  • Mechanical failure of the sender will not block the fuel flow.
  • The fuel flow sender is compatible with all of MGL Avionics range of products.
  • Successfully fitted to every possible engine type including large aero engines.

SP-2 Magnetometer (Compass sensor)

The SP-2 contains a three-axis magnetic field sensor and a 2-axis accelerometer. Featuring a high resolution 16 bit measurement system, a powerful ATMega processor is used to output tilt-compensated heading information. If an SP-4 AHRS is used on the same Airtalk communications link, tilt compensation is augmented using gyro data.

The SP-4 contains 3 MEMS gyros and 3 MEMS vibrating body accelerometers. Using a 16 bit data acquisition subsystem, a powerful ARM7 32 bit processor is used to provide stabilized attitude information. Together with an SP-2 magnetometer on the same Airtalk communications link, the gyro heading can be automatically slaved to the magnetic heading.
Note: Stratomaster CNV-AT is NOT required for the Enigma as Mode C functionality is already built-in.
