Meet The Sonex Team
Our customers say time and again that it's the people that make Sonex such a special company to work with. Take a moment to read about the Sonex staff...

John Monnett

John, a multi-thousand hour private pilot with both glider and float plane ratings and an A&P Mechanic, has many designs to his credit including the Sonerai sport aircraft series, Monerai sailplane, Moni motorglider, Monex racer, along with numerous other homebuilt aircraft. He combines thirty-five years of homebuilt aircraft and restoration experience with his twenty-five years of kit aircraft sales and support in his latest business venture. John was inducted into the EAA Homebuilder's Hall of Fame in 2001 and his designs are on display in the Udvar-Hazy National Air & Space Museum and the EAA AirVenture Museum.

Betty Monnett

Betty brings ten years of teaching experience and over twenty years in Public Relations and Advertising. Her outgoing and friendly personality make her one of Sonex's greatest assets. Her primary work responsibilities include Accounts Payable and Benefits Administration, but of course, Betty's involvement and support knows no bounds.

Jeremy Monnett
jeremy@sonexaircraft.com

Jeremy, a private pilot with glider and float ratings and a Mechanical Engineer, joined Sonex in October, 1998. He worked for two years as a payload systems engineer at The Boeing Company in Seattle and as a Summer Intern at General Motors in Detroit. He has been working along side John on various restoration and experimental projects for over fourteen years. He now handles all of the day-to-day operations of Sonex as General Manager.

Pete Buck

Pete, the brain behind Sonex, is an A&P Mechanic, private pilot with a glider rating, and a Mechanical Engineer. He has worked for over 20 years as a lead engineer at the Lockheed Martin Skunkworks on various projects including the F-117 Stealth Fighter and the X-33. Pete worked at Monnett Experimental Aircraft from 1976-1981 to help develop the Monerai sailplane, and later the Moni motorglider. He created the plans for the Sonex, Waiex, and Xenos in his "Spare Time", which are without question the best ever produced for a kit aircraft.

Kerry Fores
kerry@sonexaircraft.com

Kerry has been with Sonex Aircraft since July 2002, but volunteered his time since 1999. Kerry scratch-built his own Jabiru 3300-powered Sonex, "Metal Illness", which first flew in February 2004 and was awarded a Bronze Lindy at AirVenture 2006. Kerry, a private pilot, logs about 90 hours a year enjoying both lengthy cross-countries and aerobatics.

Kerry's versatile work background fits perfectly into the Sonex Business Model and includes technical writing, graphic design, print production management, web design, photography, and air force weapons loading. His primary duties at Sonex Aircraft are technical support - both direct via phone and email, and indirect through the development of technical manuals - but his experience at Sonex allows him to fill any role including sales, shipping and receiving, and assisting with research and development.

Mark Schaible
mark@sonexaircraft.com

Mark has been an aviation enthusiast for as long as he can remember. Perhaps best known as an aviation photographer, Mark photographed for EAA for several years before moving on to a freelance career. His images have appeared in publications like Sport Aviation, AOPA Pilot, Aviation Week and Space Technology, Popular Mechanics and many others. As a teenager Mark could most often be found at his father's drafting table tinkering with airplane designs, or memorizing every aviation book he could get his hands on. For Mark, working at Sonex is the fulfillment of a dream to be immersed in an experimental aircraft design and production environment and at home, Mark is working on the construction of Waiex S/N W0029. Mark's primary responsibilities include Sales, Advertising, Public Relations, Supply-Line Management, Coordinating International Freight, Photography, Design of Sonex and AeroConversions' Web Sites, and Videography.

In her spare time, Heather runs a small Real Estate company with her husband Tony. She and Tony happily welcomed their daughter Gracie-Jean into the family in August of 2006 and are enjoying their roles as parents!
